60-and-Over Stair Climbers Ready for “Annual Physical”

Of the 736 runners expected on the starting line Wednesday night for the 36th-annual Empire State Building Run-Up Powered by the MMRF, 11 of them are over the age of 60. One still runs ultra-marathons. Another has done the New York City Marathon for 33 consecutive years. Another has several times run two marathons in the same week.

Stephanie Abrams Eager to Weather a New Challenge

Bob Glover: 35 Years of NYRR Running Classes and Counting

Just back from a tour of duty in Vietnam, young Bob Glover was looking for a job, and the YMCA in Rome, NY, was looking for an athletic director. Glover didn’t have the experience they were seeking, but he talked his way into filling the position—solely in exchange for a place to live—while the search continued.
