RUN to be your own action hero.
You want your kids to feel good—and feel good about themselves. That’s no small feat in today's world of fast food, video games, and rampant childhood obesity. Running is an easy way to get your child psyched about being active: Anyone can participate, no one gets picked last, and everyone gets in the game. NYRR offers dozens of healthy, affordable, fun activities throughout the year that show kids of all ages that they can do it. Through running, we help them find something inside themselves that they never knew they had.
Kids 8–12
Kids’ Races, offered at many NYRR events, provide friendly competition in a fun environment. School-based programs like Mighty Milers teach kids the benefits of being active and achieving goals. Special events like our Youth Jamborees combine fun contests with family health fairs. And programs like City Sports for Kids let youngsters learn track-and-field skills in relaxed competitions. We even provide online resources like the award-winning "A Running Start" video series, which gives age-specific training and coaching guidance.
Teens
Our youth programs like Young Runners give teens a valuable chance to be part of a team. The NYRR Developmental Track & Field and Cross Country Series stages meets for community competition. And online, we provide tips on coaching and training high-school-age kids.
On Site and Online
NYRR youth activities are held throughout New York City—from Central Park to Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island, from the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory to neighborhood schools and community centers. It’s never been easier to get your kids up and running. NYRR can help you teach them healthy habits that will stay with them for life.
