The race is the third event in the 2025 NYRR Five-Borough Series, and this is the second year Citizens, the Official Bank of NYRR, is the title sponsor. The Citizens Queens 10K takes place in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, the borough’s largest park, with a course giving runners views of the Unisphere, Citi Field, and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
The History of the Citizens Queens 10K
The Citizens Queens 10K has deep roots in the Queens community and a history going back to the late 1970s. Though the event’s distance and location have changed over the years, the Citizens Queens 10K remains true to its community roots and reflects the spirit of the “World’s Borough.”

Live from the annual TCS New York City Marathon Partner Forum, Rob is joined by Anne Valentzas, Senior Vice President of Consumer Marketing and Sponsorships at Mastercard and 2022 TCS New York City Marathon winner Sharon Lokedi who also won the United Airlines NYC Half in March in an event-record time of 1:07:04. Lokedi, along with an incredible pro-field, will toe the line at the Mastercard New York Mini 10K.
Highlights From NYRR's Mental Health Awareness Month Celebrations
To honor Mental Health Awareness Month in May, New York Road Runners hosted a variety of in-person activities, including the second-annual NYRR Mindful 5K, a mental well-being panel discussion with NAMI-NYC at the NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub, and special Open Run and Strider sessions.
NYRR Celebrates Pride Month 2025
June is LGBT+ Pride Month, an annual celebration of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) pride. Pride Month honors LGBTQIA+ rights, celebrates LGBTQIA+ culture, and highlights the ongoing movement toward equality, diversity, and inclusiveness.
Galo Vasquez: Breaking the Tape and Breaking Barriers
As part of our LGBTQ+ Pride Month celebration, we are highlighting local NYC runners who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Galo Vasquez is one such runner whose talent and dedication to the sport led them to two major wins in just two months, breaking the tape at the RBC Brooklyn Half with a time of 1:13:18 and at the United Airlines NYC Half in March with a time of 1:11:19, completing both races as the top nonbinary runner.
