What I Lost and Gained

! It's been a long training season, but I'm really proud of the work I've done. For the past few months, I have been training with Team for Kids.  I’ve been blessed with amazing coaches that have taught me many things beyond the pavement and bridle path.

Thus far, I have lost more than fifteen pounds, two toenails and bruised my big toe nail.  Ice water baths, Body Glide, and Zico Chocolate Coconut Water (they will change your life-PROMISE) have become my friends.  And riding home on the subway a sweating mess after a 3-hour run no longer bothers me-it has become a journey full of pride and much appreciation.

Equally as important, I have gained awareness of what my body, mind, and heart are really capable of doing.  I have gained an appreciation for living a healthy life.  I have gained a new group of friends and fellow running buddies.  I have gained a positive body image and self-confidence.  And I have gained a renewed sense of purpose by sharing my story and my new hobby with others.

As I continue my training, I pray for recovery for my aching muscles and swelling joints after the long runs. I pray for peace and confidence so that I will have no doubt I can finish this race or not because I WILL.  But most of all, I pray for all the young people who will benefit from my fundraising. On November 3, we all become winners!
