You’d think that being a runner for more than 30 years would prepare me for answering the question, “Why do I run?” Well, it isn’t so easy. My answer could vary depending on the day, my mood, or what I am training for. In fact, most of the time I just look dumbfounded at the questioner because running for me is so instinctual. But I will tell you that ever since I have been a coach for Team for Kids, I now have an answer to Why I Run. I run for TFK! The best part of being a TFK coach is hanging out with our TFK members and getting to them. They all have such interesting backgrounds and reasons that brought them to TFK. And they inspire me.
“Our races are to our sport what Wimbledon and the Australian, U.S., and French Opens are to tennis, and what the Masters, U.S., and British Opens and PGA Championship are to golf. Each race has the history, the tradition, the honor roll of legendary champions, and a special place in the eyes of all to make them stand apart from the other events.” Mary Wittenberg
