Senior Manager, Warehouse Operations

The overall objective of ED&P department is the management and support of all NYRR event and production operations, from sound logistical and financial planning to safe and efficient execution, while working with the Business Development & Strategic Partnerships department to develop event models that result in contributing to the overall profitability of the organization.
 
Senior Manager Warehouse Operations Job Purpose:
Provides materials, equipment, and supplies by directing receiving, warehousing, and distribution services; supervising staff and controlling company assets. Oversees facility and vehicle management.  Establish a responsive and cost-efficient warehouse that is aligned with the current and long-term requirements of the organization’s business strategy.This position will report to the Vice President, Event Development & Operations, with the core responsibility of managing and leading NYRR warehouse operations.

Responsibilities: 
  • Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.  Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts that create more effective space within existing premises; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
  • Oversees vehicle management, which includes the logging of usage; registration of all company vehicles; ensure regular maintenance is performed;
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; drive continuous improvement in the cost efficiency of the operations; initiating corrective actions to budgeting
  • Complete warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, ensuring payroll budgets are in line with schedules; following up on work results.
  • Maintains warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintain strong relationship with suppliers and outside contractors
  • Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. Responsible for the leadership and direction of the warehouse team. Provide goal setting and guidance and responsible for year-end appraisals.
  • Ensure workers have been properly trained and licensed to handle heavy equipment
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Management of projects as assigned by upper management and introduction of new initiatives
     
Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of warehouse supervisor/management experience required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Strong logistical/operational background required.
  • Ability to manage to budgets and provide detailed analysis and reports.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Must work various weekends and extended hours as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment; ability to manage full time and part-time staffs.
  • Focused attention to detail. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Works well under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable presenting to organizational senior management.
  • Mechanical knowledge of vehicles, forklifts and small engines preferred.
  • Working knowledge of event site power preferred.
  • CDL License preferred.
  • Forklift and other heavy equipment licenses a must.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Business Applications; Excel; PowerPoint; Word; Inventory Asset Management/
  • Visio and/or AutoCAD preferred.
