Part-time Events Staff

The overall objective of this department is the efficient management of all levels of production as it relates to NYRR events, and developing event services models that contribute to the overall profitability of the organization.
This position will report to the Manager of Event Operations and Manager of Volunteer Operations and will be responsible for providing on-site logistical and operational support for NYRR events including the ING New York City Marathon.

Responsibilities: 
  • Assist event managers and staff in build-out of the event start, finish, and festival areas.
  • Provide on-site logistical support as necessary.
  • Assist with directing participants and spectators at the event, reporting NYRR rule violations, and reporting medical emergencies.
  • Assist with organizing volunteers at races and events. Must be comfortable working with new people on a regular basis. 
  • Responsible for crowd control and marshaling. Must be very vocal, outgoing, and willing to direct volunteers, participants and the general public.
  • Responsible for dealing with event participants, spectators, staff, and the general public in a courteous, professional manner.
Requirements: 
  • This is a weekend position with long hours (typically from 4am – 1pm).
  • Event experienced preferred, but not required, preferably in the sports and/or entertainment industries, including strong logistical/operational background.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. Must be proactive, responsible, attentive, and hardworking.
  • Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds of equipment.
