Assistant Controller

Candidate must be a corporate finance leader with expertise in financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP, account analysis, fixed assets accounting/tracking, accruals, balance sheet review, A/R, payroll and tax return 990. Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing duties outlined below.  

Responsibilities: 
  • Manage a team of three senior accountants/ Manager and works closely with counterparts for A/R and financial statement preparation.
  • Directs the monthly, quarterly and year-end close as well as year-end Audit.
  • Oversees and reviews ADP Payroll Process in Workforce Now.
  • Accountable for account analysis, fixed assets, accruals and bank reconciliations.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial information that is used to prepare journal entries to general ledger accounts.
  • Reviews reconciliations and account analysis of various balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Assists in the preparation and interpretation of reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position.
  • Manages the 990 tax return process with our external auditors and collects appropriate data to assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
  • Responsible for the revenue recognition process and Fred 2 interface into the Mas 100 ERP.
  • Assists in the preparation of Budgets and Forecast/Projections for the Company.
  • Researches and recommends processes and procedures for improving the organization's accounting operation.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the company’s Accounting Policy and Procedure Manual.

 

Requirements: 
  • Candidates must be organized, focused, and extremely articulate, with the ability to interact confidently with Management.
  • Knowledge and application of GAAP.
  • In depth understanding of accounting controls.
  • Ability to strategize, prioritize and execute.
  • Analytical/finance skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and complete tasks in agreed upon time frames.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills. Good analytical and spreadsheet skills.  Must have the ability to work with large amounts of data from multiple systems, develop ad hoc reporting and analysis (use of Pivots and Lookup formulas a plus).

 
Preferred/Optional Skills: (Developed Skills that reduce training time)

  • CPA, Capital Expenditure, Form 990, Mas 90/100/200, Biznet.
